Indian Women Mean Business
Our Women Mean Business conferences held in Mumbai were more than just one day events. Our first conference held in 2009 fostered a unique network of high level speakers and Indian women entrepreneurs to discuss the barriers women face in setting up and developing their businesses.
Our 2010 conference highlighted ICT as a tangible solution to these challenges. More than 40 high profile speakers and 200 participants came together to discuss the benefits of mobile services and web-based technology, such as e-mentoring and social media. The conference ended with a collection of commitments made from delegates, speakers and supporters to help women succeed in education, business and entrepreneurship through the powerful tool of technology. For our part, the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women committed to follow through with the following initiatives:
Mentoring Women in Business:
A unique programme in partnership with Google that combines e-mentoring, ICT training and peer support to unlock the potential of women who want to start or expand their businesses
India Mentor Development Programme:
A training of trainers programme in partnership with the National Entrepreneurship Network that establishes and grows successful mentorships for women entrepreneurs in India
Women entrepreneurs in India and ICT:
A research project in partnership with the International Center for Research on Women designed to illuminate technology solutions that uniquely benefit women entrepreneurs
